Justice League Logo, New Batmobile & Plot Details Revealed

Though Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is still fresh in everyone’s mind, and not necessarily in a good way for some, DC Comics and Warner Bros. are trudging forward with their DC Films universe. Fans seem genuinely excited about Suicide Squad, in theaters this August. And we also have Wonder Woman to look forward to next summer. But the biggest movie yet will no doubt be Justice League, which arrives November 2017. And while we have a while to wait, the studio is not wasting anytime trying to prove to fans that it will be one massive superhero ensemble that is worth the wait. Today, we get our first official look at the film with a logo and Batman’s new upgraded Batmobile. We also get the official synopsis, which hints at a rejuvenated Bruce Wayne.

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

And that sounds exactly like what we were expected. The official plot synopsis positions the fact that Superman is still dead. And it sounds like he’ll remain dead for the first act at least, while Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince do all the heavy lifting in getting the gang together. The synopsis doesn’t mention the villain by name. While many believe that it will be Doomsday, other recent rumors point to Steppenwolf being the big bad this time out, with Doomsday to arrive possibly in Justice League 2.

Justice League brings back a lot of the Batman V Superman cast, including Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as The Flash. There have been recent rumors that Amber Heard is on the verge of being fired from the movie, though she is still listed as Queen Mera. J.K. Simmons was recently seen getting buff for his role as Commissioner Gordon. Willem Dafoe is playing Vulko, an Atlantean that is Aquaman’s mentor. Though Clark Kent is presumably dead, Henry Cavill has been spotted on set, so we have a sneaking suspicion that Superman’s demise won’t last as long as anyone thinks.

A number of websites recently visited the set of the movie, and have arrived back from London with a few important details about the movie. It has been confirmed that this first ensemble installment is no longer Part One as originally intended. And director Zack Snyder promises a much lighter tone than Dawn of Justice. While a great deal of the plot revolves around the formation of the Justice League, the team will also be in pursuit of the three Mother Boxes that have landed on earth. These boxes have been sitting, waiting for the arrival of Steppenwolf, with the Amazonians and Atlanteans having each found one. It isn’t yet known what purpose they will serve.

While the first official image from the movie shows off the upgraded Batmobile, Batman is also getting a new vehicle that has been dubbed ‘The Flying Fox’. He’ll be able to carry some of his Justice League team members in it. There is also a tank-like vehicle that will be on display called ‘The Nightcrawler’. Batman himself is getting an Armor upgrade, but it will rest under his more traditional Batsuit. The Flash will be showing up with a handmade costume he’s sewn together with pieces of stolen tech. This includes heating tiles taken off a space shuttle. Cyborg will arrive on the screen as a 100% CGI creation. And Wonder Woman will show up almost exactly as she was seen in Dawn of Justice. You can take a look at the new Batmobile and logos here. There will be more new information about Justice League as the day continues so stay tuned.

Baywatch Movie Poster Wants You to Rock Your Dad Bod

Yesterday was Father’s Day, with dads all around the world being celebrated for raising their kids the right way. Dwayne Johnson decided to get in the Father’s Day spirit by unveiling a new poster for his highly-anticipated reboot of Baywatch. The Rock is joined by co-star Jon Bass on this poster, which encourages father’s everywhere to rock their “dad bods.”

As you can see in this post from Dwayne Johnson’s Twitter, not every “dad bod” is not the same. Dwayne Johnson is strikingly chiseled, as usual, while Jon Bass rocks a more traditional “dad bod”. We still don’t know exactly who Jon Bass is playing yet, but it has been confirmed that Dwayne Johnson is playing Mitch Buchannon, a role originally portrayed by David Hasselhoff in the iconic Baywatch TV series.

Dwayne Johnson and Jon Bass will be joined by Zac Efron as Matt Brody, a cocky newcomer who is forced to work with Buchannon to stop a criminal conspiracy that is threatening the beach. The rest of the cast includes Alexandra Daddario (Summer Quinn), Kelly Rohrbach (CJ Parker), Ilfenesh Hadera (Stephanie Holden) and Priyanka Chopra (Victoria Leeds), with Hannibal Buress, Jack Kesy and Amin Joseph playing unspecified characters. Paramount has issued a May 19, 2017 release date for Baywaytch, which will go up against Annabelle 2 and The Nut Job 2.

Original Baywatch stars David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson have also joined the cast as well, although little is known about their characters. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay most recently written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Friday the 13th). Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2) wrote the original draft of the script, with Dwayne Johnson also producing alongside Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman. Production wrapped in May, with a new cast photo being revealed.

It isn’t known when the first trailer may surface, but it’s possible that Dwayne Johnson and the cast may descend upon Comic Con next month to unveil the first footage. Given how connected Dwayne Johnson is with his fans on social media, don’t be surprised if the actor himself announces the Baywatch Comic Con plans in the near future. Until then, check out this new Baywatch poster below.

Suicide Squad Character Posters Break Task Force X Out of Prison

Following IMAX’s colorful breakfast-inspired teaser poster this morning, we now have 11 more Suicide Squad character one-sheets featuring the worst of the worst from Belle Reve. The usual suspects are all accounted for, with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Jared Leto’s Joker leading this pack of raving lunatics. We also get colorful new looks at Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Adam Beach as Slipknot and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc.

Last week, we finally got confirmation as to who contributed songs to the upcoming soundtrack, which will be in stores the same week the movie hits theaters. Twenty One Pilots has the lead single with ‘Heathens’, which is expected to drop a music video soon. And Jared Leto suited back up as The Joker for the second single ‘Purple Lamborghini‘, coming from Skrillex & Rick Ross. Though, it should be noted that The Joker doesn’t actually drive a Lamborghini in the movie. It is a kit car called a Vaydor, and it was designed by Matt McEntegart of Vaydor Exotics in Florida. Other artists contributing to the soundtrack include Lil’ Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons, Action Bronson & Dan Auerbach, Kehlani, Kevin Gates and Eminem.

The Suicide Squad soundtrack is being compared to Awesome Mix Vol. 1 from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The songs each play an important role in the actual story itself. And while the release has new music, it also features old classics from the likes of War and Creedence Clearwater Revival, while Panic! At The Disco is delivering a new cover of Queen’s iconic song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ConfidentialMX is taking on the old BeeGee’s standby ‘I Started a Joke’. The soundtrack will be accompanied by a separate release containing composer Steven Price’s full score.

From director David Ayer comes Suicide Squad! It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Supervillains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

The all-star ensemble cast for Suicide Squad also includes Scott Eastwood, Common and Ray Olubowale, none of whom have been included in the marketing thus yet. Also making an apperance in the movie is Ben Affleck as Batman. And it’s rumored that Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor may show up as well.

Suicide Squad will be going up against The Weinstein Company’s drama The Founder and EuropaCorp’s comedy Nine Lives on August 5. This superhero adventure should have no trouble taking down The Founder and Nine Lives at the box office, but we’ll have to wait and see. While we’ll have to wait and see how this movie fares in theaters, Warner Bros. is already making plans for sequels and spinoffs.

Warner Bros. recently announced a Harley Quinn spinoff that may also feature characters like Batgirl and the Brids of Prey. Another report revealed that the studio is considering spinoffs for both The Joker and Boomerang as well, but it isn’t known how far along in development any of these projects are. Another report claimed the studio wants director David Ayer to come back for Suicide Squad 2, with the studio eyeing an early 2017 shoot, although that hasn’t been confirmed. Take a look as 10 bad villains and their misunderstood leader get ready to erupt on an unsuspecting populace in the blistering, action-packed adventure that is Suicide Squad, all courtesy of IMP Awards.

Warcraft Is Now the Biggest Video Game Movie of All-Time

Hollywood has been trying to crack the code on video game movies for a very long time, but the results have been mixed at best. 2016 seems to be marking a turning point in some ways, with The Angry Birds Movie having done very well and Assassin’s Creed is looking to hopefully generate a more critic friendly video game adaptation in December. All eyes are on Warcraft right now though, and poor reviews be damned, because it is now the highest grossing video game movie of all time.

According to Box Office Mojo, Warcraft is nearing the $380 million mark worldwide and that puts it well above the previous record holder, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. What is perhaps most interesting about the success that the Warcraft movie is currently enjoying is that the movie has absolutely tanked domestically. As of right now, it hasn’t even crossed $40 million in North America and with a crowded release schedule at the U.S. box office in the coming weeks, it isn’t likely to make a make a whole lot more.

Prince of Persia was also panned by critics but still made a decent chunk of its change on the domestic side of things, grossing just north of $90 million stateside. The Angry Birds Movie also came very close to the record earlier in the year, having made $327 million worldwide, of which $103 million was domestic box office. Warcraft is proving that domestic isn’t only not as important as it once was, it may be borderline irrelevant in some cases. The movie has absolutely crushed nearly every record in the books in China, having grossed $156 million there alone. Yet, domestically, Warcraft is only the 17th highest grossing video game movie, behind a slew of terrible video game movies like both Tomb Raiders.

Duncan Jones, who directed Warcraft, spent more than three years working on the movie and Legendary Pictures reportedly spent more than $160 million making it, so it needed to do well. Jones has said that if it did well there were plans for a trilogy and initially, it seemed like there was no chance of that happening, but the foreign markets are probably going to will a sequel into existence. Jones doesn’t seem to be shaken by the poor critic reviews or lack of U.S. box office, but did encourage people to make their own decision about it and to relax a bit.

“If you loved Warcraft, spread the word, or better yet, bring someone new to see it! If not. No worries, but please chill out. It’s just a movie.”

Another interesting bit to note about Warcraft is that there is a massive gap between how critics feel about it and how fans are responding to it. As of right now, the movie has an abysmal 29 percent critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. On the flip side, it has an 81 percent approval rating from fans, with an average rating of 4.1 / 5. Though Warcraft wasn’t the hit some expected it to be in every phase, it is surely going to encourage studios to double down on video game adaptations in the future and to take them very seriously, because clearly, there is money to be made.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Begins Shooting, First Set Photo Arrives

Fans are currently celebrating Tom Holland‘s very welcomed addition as Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He wasn’t a main character in Captain America: Civil War, but he was surely the standout and now everyone is waiting for Spider-Man: Homecoming next year. We are now one step closer to the movie becoming a reality as Homecoming looks like it has started production and has also added several new cast members.

Firstly, The Hollywood Reporter announced today that Spider-Man: Homecoming has added three new and young cast members to the growing ensemble. Newcomers Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and J.J. Totah. have all joined Holland for the movie, presumably as classmates for Peter Parker. No character details were revealed for any of these new cast members.

These additions are continuing with the trend of Marvel looking to diversify Homecoming, as Lendeborg and Totah are helping to make the movie less whitewashed than other MCU movies have been accused of being. These announcements come in addition to the recent additions of Donald Glover, Martin Starr and Logan Marshall-Green. Director Jon Watts recently talked about Spider-Man: Homecoming in an interview with The Daily Beast and the casting choices that have been made so far, saying that since Parker lives in Queens, New York it only makes sense that the cast would be diverse.

“Peter Parker goes to high school in Queens, and Queens is one of-if not the-most diverse places in the world. So I just wanted it to reflect what that actually looks like.”

In addition to the new casting announcements, it also looks like Spider-Man: Homecoming has officially started production. Though Marvel didn’t make an official announcement, Tom Holland did share an Instagram post today that all but confirms production is underway. Holland posted a photo of himself leaning on a chair labeled “Peter,” saying this.

“First day on the job and I already got my chair! #SpiderMan:Homecoming.”

It was definitely cool for fans that Holland made the announcement, but the name on the chair put it over the top. Fans have been waiting a very long time to see Spidey make his way to the MCU, and for a long time it looked like Sony was intent on doing things their own way. Luckily for us, Kevin Feige was able to work his magic and cut a deal that allowed for the character to be part of The Avengers at Marvel Studios. Homecoming will be taking place entirely in a high school setting, which is why much of the cast members are very young. In addition to the recent casting announcements, Holland will be joined by Oscar winner Michael Keaton in an as of yet unannounced villain role, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Kenneth Choi in an unspecified role and Zendaya as a character named Michelle. Spider-Man:Homecoming lands in theaters on July 7, 2017.

5 Anton Yelchin Movies That Are Still Coming Out

2016 has taken a lot of big name talents away from us. Yesterday, yet another big blow was handed out as Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin very sadly passed away at the young age of 27. Yelchin had been a very strong talent in Hollywood going back to when he was just a young kid, and he was very much a star on the rise when he tragically died. The entertainment community and fans alike have been reeling ever since the story broke.

The news that Yelchin had died was first reported by Deadline on Sunday morning and was later confirmed by Yelchin’s publicist. He was found by his friends early in the morning, pinned by his car against a brick mailbox and security gate, apparently crushed to death by his own vehicle, and no foul play is suspected. It was also recently revealed that the vehicle involved in the incident was a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which had a recall issued by Fiat Chrysler for the shifter that had been involved in more than 40 incidents.

Yelchin got his start as a child actor, and had been consistently delivering very high quality work ever since. Yelchin was very great at not only taking on a decent amount of projects, but they were in all shapes in sizes and scope. From starring as Chekov in Star Trek to providing the voice of a Smurf, he was always one of the best parts of what he was doing and always gave it his all. Anyone who has followed his work in recent years will likely tell you, he appeared to only be getting better, and that is one of the saddest parts of this tragedy for fans.

Many of us are still reeling from the news and Hollywood has responded with thoughts and prayers aplenty on social media. Yelchin had been acting for most of his life, but it felt like he was about to hit a major stride which we won’t ever get to see realized. It seemed very likely that his best work was still ahead of him. As sad as his very untimely and tragic death is, Yelchin did leave behind an incredible body of work for a man his age but not only that, he had wrapped on several projects that have yet to be released. Here are the remaining Anton Yelchin movies that are still going to be coming out over the next two year.

Star Trek Beyond – July 22, 2016

Star Trek Beyond

Anton Yelchin turned in a ton of great performances in a relatively short time, but when he took on the role of Chekov in J.J. Abrams’ reboot of Star Trek in 2009 he became a household face, if not a household name. Even if some Trekkies out there take certain issue with aspects of the new Star Trek franchise, almost nobody has any problems with the killer ensemble cast. Justin Lin has taken over directing duties for Star Trek Beyond since Abrams was busy with a galaxy far far away and Yelchin will be reprising his role as Chekov in the movie. The first trailer for Beyond had some fans worried, but the more recent trailer had nice character moments for everyone and inspired a lot more confidence that this should be a nice entry in the franchise, though it will sadly be the last to feature Yelchin’s delightful take on Chekov. The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise find themselves several years into their five year mission in Beyond and when things go south, they become stranded on a hostile alien planet and things look like they are going to get pretty crazy from there. Star Trek Beyond is hitting theaters on July 22 and will premiere on July 20 at San Diego Comic Con.

We Don’t Belong Here – TBA 2016

We Don't Belong Here

Outside of Beyond, most of what is left on Yelchin’s release schedule are indie movies that will probably be much more character driven pieces, which is something he was very accustomed to doing. We Don’t Belong Here is the directorial debut from Peer Pedersen and will feature Yelchin as one of the leads named Maxwell Geen, alongside The 40-Year-Old Virgin star Catherine Keener. Not a lot is known about the movie, but the plot is described as “A matriarch of a dysfunctional family is pushed to her tipping point by the disappearance of her son.” The rest of the cast is very promising as it includes Molly Shannon, Cary Elwes and Maya Rudolph. No release date is set for We Don’t Belong Here, but the movie is reportedly totally completed and should secure a release once it is picked up by a distributor.

Transformers 5 Gets Da Vinci's Demons Star Laura Haddock

Shooting has been under way for the last few weeks on Transformers: The Last Knight, under the direction of Michael Bay, as the cast continues to be rounded out. Earlier this month, we reported that Anthony Hopkins has joined the sequel in a mystery role, and now we have word that another actor has come aboard. Da Vinci’s Demons star Laura Haddock revealed in a humorous video that she has officially come aboard Transformers: The Last Knight, although no details were given about who she’s playing.

Earlier this morning, the actress posted a video on Twitter where she confirmed that she has joined the cast of the new Transformers movie. While it isn’t known when she will start filming her scenes, the actress epressed her excitement to be acting alongside one of her “heroes.” Here’s what she had to say in her Twitter video below.

“I’m very proud to announce that I am going to be in the new Transformers movie, and acting opposite one of my all-time heroes. Massive in the 80s, living legend, some people describe him as having balls of steel. I can’t believe I get to be part of his entourage, Optimus Prime. Oh, and there’s this other guy, he’s a pretty big deal, Mark Wahlberg.”

Regardless of who she’s playing, she joins a cast that includes Mark Wahlberg and new characters played by Isabela Moner and Jerod Carmichael. It was recently confirmed that Josh Duhamel, who played Lennox in the original Transformers trilogy, is coming back for this sequel, and there has also been talk that Tyrese Gibson could be back as Epps as well. We don’t know how long production is scheduled to take place, so there could be many more casting announcements on the horizon.

Michael Bay is directing from a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan, who were part of the expansive Transformers writers room last summer. Paramount has set a June 23, 2017 release date for this sequel, putting it up against Sony Pictures’ Rock That Body. Laura Haddock is perhaps best known for playing Lucrezia Donati on Starz’s Da Vinci’s Demons, and she also played Peter Quill’s dying mother in the 2014 blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy. Take a look at the actress’ Twitter video below, and stay tuned for more on Transformers: The Last Knight.

First Look at Spider-Man: Homecoming Cast On Set

Earlier today, we reported that production has gotten under way on Spider-Man: Homecoming, with star Tom Holland sending out the first photo from the set in Atlanta. We also learned that three new actors have joined the cast in unspecified roles. Now we have word of yet another casting addition, and even more photos from the set. Comedian/actor Hannibal Buress has signed on, while star Tom Holland and several of his co-stars were spotted as filming began in Atlanta today.

The photos surfaced at Just Jared, featuring our first look at Tom Holland, Zendaya Coleman and Tony Revolori. We don’t know much about what was being filmed today, but one of Marvel’s other filmmakers, James Gunn, shared a new photo with himself, Tom Holland and Chris Pratt, along with a message wishing the production the best of luck. Here’s what the filmmaker had to say on Facebook below.

“Many blessings today to the star of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland, and the film’s director, Jon Watts (standing in here for Jon is some dude that was passing by), as they begin their shoot in Atlanta just as we are ending ours. I don’t think we could pass the Marvel baton to two nicer, better guys who care more about what they’re doing. Kill it!”

As for Hannibal Buress’ character, no details were given at this time, but he joins a growing cast. Marisa Tomei returns as Aunt May after making her MCU debut alongside Tom Holland in Captain America: Civil War last month. The cast also includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Michael Keaton as the villain, rumored to be Vulture, and Laura Harrier and Michael Barbieri in unknown roles. The cast is rounded out by Donald Glover, Kenneth Choi and Logan Marshall-Green, but nothing is known about their characters either except that Marshall-Green is playing another villain alongside Keaton rumored to be The Tinkerer.

Jon Watts (Cop Car) is directing from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Vacation), with Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal producing. Sony and Marvel have set a July 7, 2017 release date for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and now that production is under way, hopefully the studios will release the first plot details soon. In the meantime, check out the first photos from the Atlanta set of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Noomi Rapace Is Returning for Alien: Covenant After All

Over the past few months, there have been a number of reports circulating about the possible involvement of Noomi Rapace on director Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. There were reports that she would only have a small role in the sequel, while others claimed that she had been cut out of the movie altogether. Now with production under way in Australia, it seems that Noomi Rapace will be a part of the movie after all.

Deadline‘s sources claim that Noomi Rapace is currently on the Alien: Covenant set in Australia, where she will shoot “weeks worth of scenes” in the sequel. The actress’ character Elizabeth Shaw was the only human survivor of the Prometheus expedition, with the story set a decade after the 2012 movie. With the actress shooting “weeks” worth of scenes, it seems clear that her role will be more than just a simple cameo, although earlier reports claimed she had a small role, so it may actually only be one week’s worth of shooting, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The story follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, who are bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. They discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. Alien: Covenant starts a new prequel trilogy that will bridge the gap in the events between Prometheus and the original Alien. Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as the android David.

The early plot synopsis revealed that David was the “only survivor” when the Covenant crew finds this remote planet. We know that the story is set a decade after the events of Prometheus, so it’s possible that Noomi Rapace will be filming flashbacks, set during this decade gap between Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, but that’s only speculation at this point. 20th Century Fox has yet to confirm Noomi Rapace’s casting, so stay tuned for more details.

Alien: Covenant starts a new prequel trilogy that will bridge the gap in the events between Prometheus and the Alien. Back in December, it was confirmed that iconic Alien creatures such as the Facehugger, Chestburster and Xenomorph will be appearing in the sequel. The cast also includes Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez. And it has been all but confirmed by 20th Century Fox themselves that Katherine Waterston is playing Ripley’s mom. Ridley Scott is directing from a script by Jack Paglen, Michael Green and John Logan. Stay tuned for more on Alien: Covenant as production continues in Australia.
